Ruben Amorim’s wing back tinted glasses highlights why there’s so much to unpick at Manchester United currently.

The fans are craving some form of structure and success they’ll believe anything. They’ll happily be sucked in for the hope of future dominance and success.

There’s this philosophy of believing in the process.

There’s a current self fulfilling prophecy at the moment where Amorim is saying there’s going to be pain before there’s success. In essence allowing for defeats. That’s a sticky wicket as it seems to allow a defeat as being acceptable. Currently 50% in the league. Incidentally there’s a 25% win rate in the league.

This belief is set from the 3 at the back philosophy. I’m not saying that is not going to work in the long run but I believe it should be implemented when for me the two most important cogs are set- the wing backs. Currently I’m not having Dalot as a wing back, especially on the left. I don’t think Diallo is a wing back either. Diallo will be dangerous further up the pitch. Of course I’m happy to be proved wrong.

I’m not saying go back to 4-4-2 , 4-3-3 etc but hanging yourself to this formation whilst stating there will be pain is a dangerous game. Especially if there’s say 5 wins, 8 draws and 7 defeats in the first 20 games.

I agree with starting early with your “philosophy” but it is a dangerous game to play when you clearly don’t have the pieces of the puzzle.

I agree about the need for running more. Especially playing with this 3 at the back.

It’ll be interesting when the believing in the process tinted glasses are taken off.

I believe in Amorim as I like his honesty but I have a feeling he may need switch his tinted glasses for the short termĀ
